Anis of Flavigny Violet Candy

These traditional candies have been a French tradition for well over 2,000 years. Anis of Flavigny candies are made in Burgundy following a lengthy artisanal process, which starts with an aniseed, the fruit of the Anise plant. Each tiny aniseed is then coated with successive layers of fine violet sugar syrup in a large rotating cylinder. It takes more than 15 days for the candy to transform from a minuscule aniseed into a final piece of hard candy.

The taste is subtly sweet, while not being overwhelming! This is the perfect treat for any Francophile. Once the candies have all been enjoyed, reuse the tin indefinitely to store jewelry or hair ties.

These are hard candies – please do not bite them. They are best enjoyed slowly.
