These traditional candies have been a French tradition for well over 2,000 years. Anis of Flavigny candies are made in Burgundy following a lengthy artisanal process, which starts with an aniseed, the fruit of the Anise plant. Each tiny aniseed is then coated with successive layers of fine rose sugar syrup in a large rotating cylinder. It takes more than 15 days for the candy to transform from a minuscule aniseed into a final piece of hard candy.
These are hard candies – please do not bite them. They are best enjoyed slowly.
